When it comes to brush cleansing, you can either go for an all-in-one brush cleanser, with prices ranging from a few euros to tremendous amounts – or you can try my cheap, effective and 100 % natural alternative.
Here is how you do it:

Das Reinigen und Desinfizieren von Schminkpinsel ist unverzichtbar, nicht nur für die Lebensdauer deiner Pinsel, sondern auch für die Reinheit deiner Gesichtshaut – denn Pickel und Akne können die Folge unhygienischer Schminkpinsel sein.
Zum Reinigen deiner Pinsel kannst du dich entweder für gebräuchliche all-in-one Pinselreiniger entscheiden – mit Preisen von ein paar Euro bis hin zu übertrieben, teuren Produkten – oder du probierst meine günstige, effektive und 100 % natürliche Alternative aus.
Und so geht's:

| All you need: Coconut oil, tea tree oil, 2 white, clean wash cloths, 2 small bowls and water. |
As you can see in the picture, you will only need coconut oil, tea tree oil, two white wash cloths, two bowls and water.
Wie du im Bild erkennen kannst, brauchst du für diese Methode lediglich etwas Kokosnussöl, Teebaumöl, zwei weiße Waschlappen, zwei kleine Schüsseln und Wasser.

Step 1: CLEANSING
Put about one teaspoon of coconut oil into a bowl and add warm water. Stir with the spoon until all of the oil has turned liquid.
Schritt 1: REINIGEN
Gib einen Teelöffel Kokosnussöl in die Schüssel und füge etwas warmes Wasser hinzu. Rühre solange bis das Öl vollständig flüssig ist.

| Depending on what type of brush you are cleaning (e.g. powder or foundation brush) you might need to repeat this step once or twice. |
Then you place your brush into the bowl and swirl it around. Use your fingers to gently massage the mixture into all the bristles and softly squeeze it out again.
Dann geht's los: Einfach die Pinsel in die Mischung eintauchen und mit den Fingern sanft in alle Borsten einmassieren und vorsichtig wieder ausdrücken.

| When rinsing your brush make sure to always hold the bristles down, so the water won't dissolve the glue that holds the bristles in place. |
Now you rinse your brush thoroughly. It's time to get the clean wash cloth: Carefully swirl and press to get out the remaining makeup. It's important to use a white cloth so you can clearly see how much product is still in your brush. Don't worry if there still a lot on your brush, because you are going to repeat this process one more time.
So back to the bowl with the coconut oil and water and do the swirling, massaging and rinsing one more time. If you feel it's necessary, renew the coconut oil and water mixture with yet another teaspoon and water.
With some brushes you might need to repeat this method up to three times. At least for me, my stippling brush and buffer brush needed 3 rounds.
You are done, once there is no more makeup coming out of your brush when you rub it on the wash cloth.
Jetzt wird der Pinsel gründlich ausgewaschen. Dann nimmst du dir den Waschlappen zur Hand und streichst den Pinsel vorsichtig darüber. Durch sanftes Drücken entfernst du das restliche Make-up aus den Borsten. Deshalb ist es so wichtig einen weißen Waschlappen zu verwenden, daran kannst du deutlich sehen, wie viel Produktreste sich in deinem Pinsel befinden.
Sei nicht beunruhigt wenn noch viele Produktrückstände vorhanden sind – denn der gesamte Prozess wird ein zweites Mal wiederholt.
Also zurück zur Schüssel mit der Kokosnussöl Mischung und: eintauchen, massieren, ausdrücken, abspülen und abstreichen.
Wenn es nötig sein sollte, erneuere einfach das Kokosnussöl und Wasser.
Bei einigen Pinsel muss diese Methode bis zu dreimal angewendet werden. Ich musste jedenfalls meine stippling und buffer brush dreimal reinigen.
Du bist fertig, sobald du keine Produktrückstände auf den Waschlappen siehst, wenn du den Pinsel darüber streichst.

Of course you could use other oils for this method as well. The reason why I'm using coconut oil is, because this natural oil is antibacterial and removes waterproof makeup.

Selbstverständlich könnte man zum Reinigen der Pinsel auch andere Öle verwenden. Allerdings habe ich mich für Kokosnussöl entschieden, da es antibakteriell ist und sogar wasserfestes Make-up entfernt.

Step 2: DISINFECTING

| Tea tree oil is perfect for disinfecting your face brushes. |
Fill the second bowl with cold water and add about 5 drops of tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is the extract from the leaves of an australian tree. It is a natural antiseptic, which means it acts against bacteria.
Studies have shown, that this natural oil is just as effective as benzoyl peroxide when it comes to fighting acne.
This makes tea tree oil ideal for disinfecting your makeup brushes. However, a little goes a long way. Overdosing this oil can cause irritation, redness or even allergic reactions. That is why you should never use tea tree oil undiluted.
Also: Avoid any contact with mucous membranes like your nose or eye area. Therefore should this method ONLY BE USED FOR YOUR FACE BRUSHES, and NOT FOR ANY BRUSHES YOU USE AROUND YOUR EYE AREA.
To make sure you won't have an allergic reaction to this oil, try it on your skin, before applying it to your face brushes.
And remember: Keep the bottle away from children and your pets, as it should never be swallowed. Also: Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not be using tea tree oil either.

Fülle die zweite Schüssel mit kaltem Wasser und geben etwa 5 Tropfen Teebaumöl hinzu. Teebaumöl ist das Extrakt des australischen Teebaumes. Es ist ein natürliches Antiseptikum und wirkt somit antibakteriell.
Studien konnten zeigen, dass dieses natürlich Öl im Kampf gegen Akne ebenso effektiv ist, wie die herkömmliche Alternative Dibenzoylperoxid.
Damit eignet es sich hervorragend zur Desinfektion deiner Schminkpinsel. Allerdings gilt hier: Weniger ist mehr.
Eine Überdosierung von Teebaumöl kann zu Hautirritationen, Rötungen und allergischen Reaktionen führen. Daher darf dieses Öl niemals unverdünnt verwendet werden.
Außerdem: Vermeide jeglichen Kontakt mit Schleimhäuten, wie der Nase und den Augen. Deshalb darf diese Desinfektions-Methode AUSCHLIEßLICH FÜR DEINE GESICHTSPINSEL und NICHT FÜR AUGEN-MAKE-UP PINSEL ANGEWENDET WERDEN.
Um sicher zu gehen, dass du nicht allergisch auf Teebaumöl reagierst, solltest es zuerst an einer Hautstelle testen, bevor du es auf allen deinen Gesichtspinseln anwendest.
Und vergiss nicht: Teebaumöl ist von Kindern und Haustieren fern zu halten, da es niemals geschluckt werden darf. Außerdem: Schwangere und stillende Mütter sollten auch kein Teebaumöl verwenden.

Finally you swirl your brush in the tea tree oil and water mixture. Since this mixture is already diluted, you do not need to rinse your brush. Gently shake it over your sink to remove any remaining water.
Schließlich tunkst du deine Gesichtspinsel in den Teebaumöl-Wasser-Mix. Nachdem diese Mischung bereits verdünnt ist, brauchst du deine Pinsel nicht mehr abzuspülen. Schüttle sie einfach vorsichtig über dem Waschbecken aus, um den letzten Rest Wasser herauszubekommen.

Let me know how this method works for you. One of my favorite things about this method: it does not dry out my hands like any other brush cleanser does. Instead, even my hands get a nice coconut oil treatment.
